About us

In July 2020, the 2030 Agenda Commission was established at Ufes to start the Institutional Agenda 2030 Project at Ufes. The project was born as an initiative of the International Office (SRI) to raise sustainability actions at Ufes, as it has been done in other universities with international prominence. The project has the participation of twelve civil servants from different sectors, including professors and administrative staff. In addition to mapping the existing research, extension, management and teaching actions, the project seeks to assess the possibilities of integration, implementation and incorporation of the SDGs in the University's strategies, policies and plans, as well as monitor, evaluate and communicate the institution's actions with respect to those goals.

In addition to producing and disseminating knowledge in areas linked to the SDGs, Ufes has a great articulation with different sectors of society, at different scales. For example, at regional level, Ufes collaborates with the National Movement ODS-ES. In the international sphere, Ufes joined the Academic Impact initiative of the United Nations (UN Academic Impact, UNAI). The university is also a signatory of the SDG Accord, which promotes the alignment of higher education institutions with the SDGs. In July 2021, Ufes was accepted as a member of the UN's Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), which mobilizes global scientific and technological knowledge to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Climate Agreement.
